I was laying in bed last weekend, thinking about the last time I worked out.
Let’s be honest, I was full out judging myself.
I’m someone who likes to be active; and the gym, yoga and movement are a big part of my lifestyle.
However, after recently experiencing an unexpected tragedy, I got totally off track with my fitness routine — and I hadn’t gotten back on.
The dialogue in my head sounded something like, “you’re not good enough, you’ve wasted too much time, it’s too late to get to where you should be” — and pretty much any other nasty thing you can imagine
After wasting time getting nowhere, I decided to make a choice.
Instead of lying to myself (hint: all the things I was saying above are not actually true) — I could change my story and do something about it — today!
Think about it..
- I’m not good enough
- I’ve wasted too much time
- It’s too late to get to where I should be
Are any of these comments actually true?
Of course not.
They’re simply limiting beliefs, negative self talk, and sabotaging thoughts that hold us back from where we want to be — and unfortunately, we all do it from time to time.
The important thing to remember is..
You’re the author of your story and you have the power to choose how you want it to go.
Instead of staying stuck in something that’s not serving you (for example, an unfulfilling job, toxic relationship, unhealthy habits, etc) — what will you decide to do about it?
Remember, clarity comes from action, so even a single step will move you in a new direction, with a different perspective.
For me, it meant getting out of bed, putting on my workout gear, and going for a run.
It felt so good and I totally proved myself wrong. For the first time, it felt great to be wrong 😉
