Before wishing you a happy New Year 🥳… I want to share some real talk with you.
We often celebrate new beginnings (like birthdays, new years and anything that offers a fresh start) without considering what’s been holding us back in the first place.
As a result, we end of popping champagne and celebrating 🍾🥂… without ever seeing the results we desire.
Basically, if we don’t know what’s stopping us now, it’s pretty much impossible for it to magically disappear just in time for the new year. 🤔
So… before goal setting for 2022 (and being able to set yourself up for a successful year ahead) there’s a few things you need to change.
The good news is… this has nothing to do with anything external from you and everything to do with YOU.
I’m talking about SELF SABOTAGE.
As much as you’d probably like to deny it — I’m pretty sure you’ve sabotaged yourself before.
I know, I sure have. 😅
In fact, everyone has. It’s part of human nature. It’s what we need to break through in order to grow. 🌱
It happens when we let fear take over. Most often when we’re rising to a higher vibration than what we’re living today.
If you’re not sure what I’m talking about, it’s that nasty voice in your head that you can’t seem to turn off.
It tells you things like, “you’re not good enough”, “smart enough”, “young/old enough” – or maybe even that “you’re not worthy of the things you want in your life” — and we believe it to be true.
Why do we do this you might be asking?!
Because you’re afraid. 😬
You’re scared of what this new ‘thing’ (relationship, job, location, business) may bring you, so without even knowing it, you avoid it. Sound familiar?
So we do things in excess like, eating, partying, dating, spending, arguing — even, isolating.
On the contrary, we put bare minimum energy into the things we want (the things that we know, deep in our soul, that are good for us).
In essence, we all have limiting behaviour that prevents us from getting what we want, and we can stop doing this, once we’re aware of what it is.
How to STOP self sabotaging and FINALLY get what you want:
- Recognize that everyone has sabotaging thoughts AKA saboteurs. We all have parts of ourselves that are overly judgmental, fearful, controlling etc, and if you don’t recognize these saboteurs, they will continue to hold you back. You also have parts of yourself that are bold, creative, curious, and determined. Your goal is to lessen your time spent with the saboteurs, and to spend more time with the positive thoughts.
ACTION: Give yourself some good ole’ self love.
My favourite quote that you may want to save or share, to remind you to spend MORE time with your positive thoughts:

- Train yourself to be emotionally fit. Tapping into the power of your positivity, instead of letting the part of you that is constantly judging yourself interfere, will enable you to move forward with your goals faster and with more ease.
ACTION: Get yourself a gratitude journal and start and end your day by writing 5 things you’re grateful for. Hint, you’re practicing using your positive muscles, which will naturally weaken the negative.
- Know that your choices will either enhance or weaken you. Every single choice that you make is either moving toward love or fear. There is nothing in between. There’s really no other choice. @yuology. ,- tweet this!
